Story
In the French Alps, countless knives were traditionally made for the numerous shepherds, including this distinctive style. Laguiole knives feature a cross-shaped decoration on the right side of the middle part of the handle. This decoration consists of seven small nails. Legend has it that the shepherds of the region, who lived in complete isolation in the mountains, also used their Laguiole knives, adorned with a cross, for prayer. By inserting the knife vertically into a loaf of bread or even into the ground, the knife reveals the upright cross, transforming it into a small place of worship, a kind of "mini altar."
