№13 Kirchham

“Short hike in Kirchham to the nativity village Hagenmühle” – Kirchham lies at the foot of the last foothills of the Alpine foothills – at the gateway to the Salzkammergut. The municipality is crossed by the two Laudach rivers. The outer Laudach rises in the area around the Traunstein.
The nativity village of Hagenmühle can be reached from the town square in Kirchham in about an hour's leisurely walk over gentle hills. The village of Hagenmühle seems a bit dreamy, there are so many things that don't exist here... that's perhaps what makes it so special. There is also a wide view over the meadows of the Alpine foothills to the Traunstein and the mountains of the Höllengebirge.
Special tip for Christmas time: Every year you can spend the whole day wandering around the various nativity scenes in peace and quiet, largely without distraction. Low-traffic streets without artificial lighting make this place perfect for a Christmassy atmosphere. It is particularly atmospheric when darkness falls over the slopes along the dry Laudach and you set off on the “Kripperlroas” in the light of a lantern you have brought with you. The nativity village opens on December 7th at 16:00 o'clock with a dignified celebration.
On the way back from Hagenmühle, we recommend a visit to the “Sammerhof” distillery. This is located in the Kirchhamer Kampesberg village, in the middle of the wooded hills not far from the Traunstein. A quiet spot, ideally created for distilling fine spirits from the fruits of nature. Tradition, loving craftsmanship and special distilling technology have laid the foundation for top-quality distillates for more than 100 years. The owner, Christian Brunner, is a passionate schnapps distiller. His renovated farm with its beautiful copper distillery is definitely worth a visit and a rich tasting. (Please register in advance)
It seems to have once been a castle or a manor house, and now the "Gasthof Pöll" invites you to stop by and enjoy wonderful regional cuisine. The "Hütterl", which is the heart of the courtyard, also offers an unforgettable experience.
